Presentation of abstraction (The teacher defines the concept or state the generalization)

Students gives example of the concept and apply the generalization to a new situation

Demerits
- The students may not be actively involved in the begining of the deductive teaching
- It is more of teacher centered
- Less challenging for the brighter students in the class.
